BoA Invited to Taiwanese Award Ceremony for Second Straight Year
Pan-Asian star BoA, 19, was invited to the 16th Golden Melody Awards, the largest Taiwanese music award ceremony, for the second straight year.
At the ceremony, which will be held May 28 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, BoA will perform her hit songs “My Name” and “Spark.”
"The Golden Melody Awards is the Taiwanese equivalent of the Grammy Awards. Last year, Korean artists who attended the ceremony included BoA, Kang Ta and TVXQ. They were all invited this year as well, but Kang Ta will be unable attend because he is filming the drama 'Loveholic,' and TVXQ is busy promoting their new album in Japan," said BoA’s agency on May 25.
BoA will leave for Taiwan on May 27 and return to Korea on May 29 to prepare for the release of her fifth album slated for late June. BoA’s planning agency said the singer’s new album will contain foreign melodies collected at the Midem International Music Fair and songs written by composers who wrote for her previous album, including songwriter Hwang Sung-jae.

| ¡®Full House¡± Sets Viewer Ratings Record in Philippines |

The KBS TV2 drama ¡°Full House,¡± starring Rain and Song Hye-gyo, has recorded the highest viewer ratings in the Philippines among all Asian television dramas that have been shown in that country since 2003. The Filipino ratings survey agency ¡°AGB Philippines¡± said ¡°Full House¡± recorded an average daily rating of 42.3 percent.
¡±Full House¡± aired in the Philippines from February to April on GMA, Philippines¡¯ ground-wave broadcaster, recording a rating of 30.2 percent for the first episode and reaching 50.5 percent on April 17.
According to AGB Philippines, seven Korean television dramas have made it onto the list of top-10 Asian dramas shown in the country so far (including re-runs). Aside from ¡°Full House,¡± which set the record, other KBS dramas such as ¡°Autumn Fairy Tale¡± and ¡°Winter Sonata¡± were also popular with Filipino audiences.
KBS was the first to export Korean dramas to the Philippines in July of 2003, and has since been exporting its programs to the country continuously. ¡°KBS Media has been exporting KBS programs to Japan, China, Taiwan and now the Philippines as well. We plan to continue to expand our exports in the future as well as sustain the ¡®hallyu¡¯ boom,¡± said a person from KBS.

Well, when I was visiting the Tsinoy.com forum, I got this news or rumor that Sandara Park will go to Korea, and one of her activities she'll be doing there is to star in a drama series with Won Bin (Andrew of Endless Love 1: Autumn in my Heart)!

Sandy: No, I'm going there to study, it's hard for me to study here in the Philippines because of my language problem, and super hectic schedule.
STAFF: Do you love Joseph?
Sandy: (Laughs) I don't know.

Sandy: Mmmmm... ahh... Joseph. (Laughs) But Hero is very special to me too, I love him because he is like a brother to me, and he is very sweet. But, I don't know.

Korea chooses Cebu for telenovela shoot

KOREAN J Plus Media has chosen Cebu over Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia as the shooting location for its new telenovela.
“Cebu will get $2.2 million worth of commercial value for the 40-minute airtime it will have on this telenovela that will be shown not only in Korea but also in other countries like Japan and China. This will greatly promote Cebu,” said Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Joseph Durano yesterday at Shangri-La’s Mactan Island Resort.
Two of the 16 episodes of “Return Single” will be shot in Cebu.
During their seven-day stay in Cebu, the crew will shoot in different locations like the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, Shangri-La, Mactan hospital, South Road Properties, and Ayala Center Cebu. They will also tour Cebu and Bohol.
Durano said the DOT had allocated P2 million for the 70 Koreans,
including the production team, talents and media.
“There are 10 representatives from different Korean media outlets who came for this press conference, tour and the telenovela production,” said Maricon Basco-Ebron, DOT’s Asia Pacific regional manager on travel trade sales and promotions and head of Team Korea.
Ebron explained that after J Plus Media chose the Philippines, it first considered Subic and Palawan. But it was Cebu that met its technical and other logistics requirements.
